Wool you listen ... meet Sonny the psychic sheep.Source: AAP
Sonny Wool is hoping to be New Zealand’s answer to Paul the octopus and by picking New Zealand to win the opening Rugby World Cup match tonight, he’s off to a good start.
First came Germany's Paul the octopus, now there's Sonny Wool - New Zealand's very own World Cup-match predicting genius.
Paul rose to prominence during the last football world cup by successfully picking the result of Germany's matches and backing Spain to win the final.
Sonny Wool is following in Paul's errr, tentacle steps, and today picked New Zealand to beat Tonga in tonight's opening Rugby World Cup match.
Sonny will pick the outcome of the All Blacks' games by choosing between two containers of food, each marked with a flag of the teams playing.
As a lamb Sonny Wool predicted when it was going to rain, according to his owner Dan Boyd.
He hoped the three-year-old sheep would be able to emulate the oracle octopus' success.
Boyd was confident Sonny could able handle the pressure and attention, as he preferred the company of humans anyway.
"He's the black sheep of the family. The other sheep don't like him at all. He hangs out and likes humans more," said Boyd.
Like his namesake Sonny is a proud All Blacks supporter, but that won't stop him picking another team to win.
"The next game is against Japan and if he picks Japan then they will be the team to win," Boyle said.
Only time will tell if he is is a dyed-in-the-wool psychic or just another wannabe.
