A man, who was called a coward by co-workers smashed five ATM machines in less than a month in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The 32-year-old, surnamed Leng, worked at an electronic factory in his hometown in Jiangsu Province until February when he moved to Hangzhou to work at a new factory.
Leng was was made an outcast at his new workplace. Co-workers called him "stingy and less of a man."
It appears when he broke the ATM machines it was after several weeks of ongoing ridicule.
At 1:12 am on March 23, he rode his bike to the city's rural cooperative bank. He went directly to the ATM booth with a plastic bag pulled over his head and hit the machine four times before leaving. When police watched the video surveillance, it was found no cash was taken.
In the early morning of April 19, he appeared again at the Agricultural Bank of China ATM with a red plastic bag worn over his head.
Leng was eventually detained by police for intentional damage of property. There have been no reports of disciplinary action taken against the co-workers for their instigation.
